Open calls for awards in micropeptides, neural circuit design, and mammalian synthetic development

The Frontiers Group is accepting Letters of Intent for three new Allen Distinguished Investigator cohorts. Up to 11 awards will be made for up to $16.5M total funding to support pioneering research in the areas of Micropeptides, Neural Circuit Design, and Mammalian Synthetic Development. Letters of intent are due by April 15.

Ask Anything, Change Everything challenge wraps

This year, the Frontiers Group took a new approach for the Allen Distinguished Investigator award program and launched a campaign to solicit cutting edge ideas from the scientific community to answer: “What should we be measuring if only we had a way to?” More than 400 ideas from 13 different countries were submitted. Later this year, top ideas will be selected and technology teams that can realize these ideas will submit proposals. Up to ten awards will be given, totaling $10M. Building a better model of blindness and eye disease

Researchers at the University of Washington, led by Allen Distinguished Investigator Tom Reh, are working on growing human retinal tissue in the lab to better understand macular degeneration, glaucoma and other vision disorders.
